We are looking for a student to help share the workload in our busy Epsom home. Applicants must have previous childcare experience and be able to provide references.
The role is during the school term Monday-Friday from 7.00-9.00am or 7.00-8.30am if you prefer.
We have four children 19,17,14 & 11 and your role is primarily to support our two children who have special needs.
Our 19-year-old son, James, has a moderate intellectual disability and is a lovely and easy going young man. He requires assistance with managing his time in the mornings (otherwise he'll sleep in and then take forever to get ready). Our 14-year-old son, Nick, also has a disability and needs considerable help to get ready for school. His developmental age is similar to that of a 1 year old so you will need to change nappies, help him get undressed and assist him to walk to the bath, help him dress for school etc.
Full training will be provided and I can give more details to interested applicants.
You will also be required to:
Prepare the lunches for the children Aassist with breakfast preparation for James, as well help to get all the bags packed and the kids out the door You'll need to undertake light laundry or vacuuming as time allows. Good time management skills are essential as you will need to work quickly and methodically to ensure everything is done in time.
You must be reliable and punctual, and a drivers license and your own car is a requirement (so that I know you're not relying on the sometimes unreliable Auckland bus service).
I will be at home in the mornings to work alongside you, but ideally, you will come to do this role independently. Occasionally you may be required to take sole charge as required (when you're comfortable with this).
There is potential for flexibility of hours during your holidays/exams by prior arrangement, and also extra hours over holidays or babysitting hours if desired. Please only apply if you can commit to this role until December. Immediate start preferable.
If you feel you would be suitable, we'd love to hear from you.
