Midwife Manager - Secondary Care at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Hutt Valley, Lower Hutt Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Whatu Ora - Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District Service: Maternity Unit - Inpatient services
Contract: Permanent - Part-time 0.80 FTE
(FTE for this role may increase to became full time) Salary: MERAS Senior midwife scale Grade 7 Step 1 ($123,199) to Step 3 ($133,041)
NZNO Senior midwife scale Senior Midwives Grade 7 $132,397 - $142,182 -
Both scales pro rata for part time An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and innovative midwife who wishes to lead the implementation of organisational and service specific initiatives at Hutt Hospital - s inpatient service. This includes the direct line management of the midwifery and nursing teams.
You will be expected to provide leadership and promote effective teamwork and workforce integration which underpins culturally responsive care in partnership with women/pregnant people and their whanau.
Components of the role will include:
Facilitate multi-disciplinary teamwork and integration of service provision.
Maintain responsibility for monitoring and management of midwifery and nursing staff performance.
Implement and promote quality and service improvement initiatives, manage patient safety reporting/response and leads clinical reviews.

Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain clinical governance standards within the service to enhance high quality equitable care outcomes and ensure safe practice standards are maintained.
Committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles of partnership, participation, equity and protection, recognising Te Ao Maori cultural practices.
Hutt Maternity unit is a friendly, busy secondary care facility centred on the needs of pregnant people, their babies and whanau. We have midwives, nurses, doctors, health care assistants, maternity care assistants, lactation consultants and administrators who work hard to deliver a seamless service along with our Lead Maternity Carer colleagues and the community.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of five years - credible midwifery experience and knowledge across the scope of midwifery practice.
Have a comprehensive understanding of the New Zealand midwifery model of care.
Proven experience and skill in building and managing effective relationships and networks, with a particular talent for collaboration and building trusting respectful partnerships.
You must have registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand and a current annual practising certificate.
A relevant post-graduate qualification or working towards this.
