Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services (Community Services & Development)12-month fixed term contract in Kaikohe, NorthlandClosing Date: 8 May 2024About the positionThe role supports tamariki, whanau and schools, promoting wellbeing and providing support when there are identified wellbeing or mental health concerns for tamariki years1-8 at school.About Ngapuhi Iwi Social Services and the ProjectThe position works within the context of the Mana Ake – Stronger for Tomorrow initiative. The work is undertaken within NISS as the employing organisation.Ngapuhi Iwi Social Services, also known as 'NISS' was established to be a key service provider to Ngapuhi, by Ngapuhi while providing services and support to anyone within the wider community.NISS was set up independently as an Iwi Social Service in 1996 and a year later was registered as a limited liability company. In 2006 NISS became a subsidiary of Te Runanga-A-Iwi-O-Ngapuhi.With offices in Kaikohe, NISS is one of the largest Iwi Social Service Providers in Aotearoa and access to their advice and services is free and confidential to all.Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:Committing to the collaborative principles, practices and procedures of Mana Ake and NISS and proactively upholding the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in all aspects of the work.Promoting and implementing Ngapuhi values to underpin all practices within the work delivery.Providing leadership to the team ensuring that items below (3-12) are carried out in an exemplary fashion by self and all team members.Working with School Culture and its norms.Developing, encouraging, modeling, and maintaining inclusive, collaborative and respectful relationships across all contexts.Providing accessible, responsive support to tamariki, whanau and schools that is evidence informed, empowering and enhances community connections.Working in collaboration with schools / clusters and the agencies that support them to identify priorities and design responses that are fit for their context and promote sustainability.Providing assessment, intervention and support that reflects mana enhancing, empowering and strengths-based practice.Ensuring confidentiality and privacy for all individuals, whanau and agency information.Ensuring all advice, guidance and support is evidence informed, high quality and protects and promotes the reputation of Mana Ake and NISS.Participating in supervision that enhances practice.Ensuring that child safety is paramount, and practices are followed in accordance with the Children's Act (2014).Actively contributing to a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture.Undertaking all additional (reasonable) duties as assigned by the Pou Ratonga/Service Delivery Manager.Essential Skills, Abilities and ExperienceLeadership abilities, orientation and experience.Ability to motivate others to seek and achieve excellence.Ability to work to a prescribed contract and achieve its indicators and meet milestones.Ability to contribute positively to leadership groups.Level 4 minimum qualification or commitment to work towards this, and/ or experience relevant to health, Social Services or education.Information technology and administration literacy.Clearance under the provisions of the Children's Act (2014).Commitment to working effectively with Maori, Pacific, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities.Good computer/ technical skills including the use of emails, internet and Microsoft applications (Move to technical skills).Our kaimahi are knowledgeable, capable and passionate about working with whanau, hapu and Iwi.
