Community Development (Community Services & Development) Te Taiwhenua O Heretaunga is a Ngati Kahungunu mandated, kaupapa Maori values-based health and social services organisation providing services to our community along the East Coast of the North Island. Our health, social, education and community development teams have been working successfully for whanau for over 37 years. We are seeking a Maori Community Development (MCD) Coordinator to join our Te Manaaki Taiao team (Environment and Maori Community Development)  This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and organised person to take the next step in their career. This role will suit a variety of applicants. You may be early in your career and looking to upskill with guidance from our highly knowledgeable leaders. Or you might already be a project coordination superstar who will hit the ground running and make their mark. The MCD Coordinator's role is responsible for providing project, logistical and general coordination support for the Te Kaihautu across the whole Te Manaaki Taiao development portfolio. This means being involved with the important work happening in our Maori communities and supporting their development. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  Support consultation processes and protocols for engaging with Maori communities. Coordinate and manage schedules, information dissemination, and logistics for Te Runanganui o Heretaunga (TRoH) collective marae and representatives, including hui and working groups. Ensure a Maori perspective is integrated into community programs and plans. Organize Ture Paewhenua workshops for Heretaunga Marae Hapu Hapori to enhance their understanding of legislation and processes for resource management. Coordinate specialist advice for Local and Regional Authorities and other agencies on Maori community issues. Gather and coordinate research for Te Manaaki Taiao that informs policy and Treaty of Waitangi application in accordance with relevant legislation. Assist Te Takawaenga in engaging Local and Regional LTA project teams with Marae/ Hapu/ Iwi, as needed. Participate in preparing and reviewing key strategic planning documents impacting Maori communities. Qualifications and Experience: Degree or relevant qualification in fields such as Law, Maori Studies, or Social Sciences. Knowledge of administration processes and computer skills. Understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. Experience working effectively with Maori organisations and government agencies. Personal Attributes: Commitment to achievement and professionalism. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to work well in a team and independently.
