Based in Otautahi (Christchurch) | Te Whanganui a Tara (Wellington)A hybrid working opportunityBe part of a high functioning teamToka Tu Ake EQC is an Aotearoa (NZ) Crown entity that invests in natural disaster research and education as well as providing natural disaster insurance to residential property owners. Toka Tu Ake EQC's mission is to reduce the impact on people and property when a natural disaster occurs while administering the natural disaster fund.We have an opportunity for a Legal professional to take the next step combining their legal work and leadership skills to manage the legal team at Toka Tu Ake EQC.Supporting the Head of Legal you will direct and guide Toka Tu Ake EQC legal team to ensure the provision of timely and fit for purpose legal advice to all areas of the organisation.This role will ensure the Head of Legal is well supported to lead a team that is engaged and aligned in their approach to delivering legal advice. You will be a credible and trusted person who is actively sought out for their advice, influence, and collaborative approach to health, safety, security, and wellbeing business performance.Ko wai koe | About YouExperience and credibility in leadership positions, 5+ years in a similar senior positionExcellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write documents that are clear, concise and in plain English, and present information verbally.Well-developed relationship management, negotiation and influencing skills.A qualified and experienced legal professional, who has a thorough understanding of the machinery of government, the Earthquake Commission Act and its legislative successor, with the ability to work well within public sector administrative processes and structures.Ability to build high performing teams, develop, coach and motivate teams, communicate and influence at senior levels both verbally and in writing, apply critical thinking and analysis, and 'join the dots' to turn ambiguity in to structured plans and successful new ways of working.You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori.
