Manager Inquiry FacilitationWaitangi Tribunal UnitWellington Ministry of Justice Te Haeata / The opportunityWe have an exciting opportunity for an accomplished people leader with experience managing complex issues in a dynamic operational environment to lead a team of outstanding individuals committed to the work of the Waitangi Tribunal.Te ahuatunga a te turanga / About the roleThe Manager of the Inquiry Facilitation team supports the Waitangi Tribunal to complete its historic inquiry programme, promptly address urgent applications and advance its kaupapa inquiry programme for contemporary claims.The Manager Inquiry Facilitation is a core member of the leadership team and manages a team of skilled and dedicated staff.Strong applicants will have experience leading operational teams in the Government sector and be comfortable managing competing priorities and a challenging work programme.Whilst a legal qualification is not a prerequisite, an understanding of the principles and processes of the justice system is, especially as they pertain to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.Experience working with the judiciary would be an advantage.Given the nature of this role, experience in working with Maori groups and organisations is essential.Proven competence in influencing at senior levels and the ability to effectively collaborate with other leaders and teams, will also position you well for consideration.O pukenga / Skills and experienceFirst and foremost, you will be a passionate people leader and know how to get the best from your team through your proven leadership capability, including effective coaching, development, and mentoring.Your experience working in a dynamic environment and your ability to be agile in response to changing priorities and needs will be crucial in this role.To be successful in this role, you will also :Possess strong operational management credentials;Have the ability to effectively collaborate with other leaders and teams;Have excellent relationship skills, including proven competence at influencing;Have experience managing and leading complex projects to successful completion, preferably in an analytical institutional environment; andHave the ability to remain agile whilst managing multiple prioritiesStrong candidates will also understand and be committed to the work of the Waitangi Tribunal, including having knowledge of te reo, tikanga and matauranga Maori.Mo te tima / About usAt Te Tahu o te Ture - the Ministry of Justice, we're committed to working together for a fair and safe Aotearoa.The Waitangi Tribunal is a permanent commission of inquiry charged with making recommendations on claims brought by Maori relating to Tiriti o Waitangi.It holds a unique place in the New Zealand constitutional framework.
