Manager - Exploration & Geology

Job Description This is a key role for OceanaGold, as exploration drilling continues for a new high grade gold mine. The Wharekirauponga low sulphidation epithermal Au-Ag vein system is located approximately 10 km north of the company's Waihi Gold Mine. Resource consents have been lodged for the project, which will create great socio-economic benefits for the region. The Manager - Exploration & Geology will ensure appropriate geological information, support, and expertise is provided to the operational mining teams to enable optimised mine design and production planning. Key responsibilities: Determine and direct exploration strategy and portfolio management. Develop exploration work programmes that drive replacement and growth of the asset base through discovery and resource conversion. Monitor and identify business growth opportunities within the district. Leadership and direction of the geology team to achieve optimal output. Succession planning, building talent and capability in the department including a pipeline of talent for key positions.. Continuously evaluate results and progress and report against exploration metrics. Manage geology budgets and drive cost efficiency. Maximise drill rig efficiency and productivity (cost and metres) through enhanced contract management. Oversee the management of the exploration and mining tenements.  Ensure compliance with exploration land access agreements. Stakeholder engagement, working closely with operations management and the corporate team. Qualifications BSc in Earth Sciences (or equivalent) Minimum 15 years of geology related work experience in a mining and exploration environment. Minimum 2 years experience in a leadership role.
