As Customer Liaison Manager - Transport, you'll work in ourtransport team to respond to some of the more complex questions and issues thatresidents raise, either via service requests or elected officials, concerning transportand liaise with the interested parties and technical service providers toobtain answers and solutions. If you're community-minded, you'll enjoy plenty about this role. With your finger on the community pulse,including keeping up-to-date with social media, you'll be able to anticipatechallenges as well as deal directly with them. You'll also put your investigative streak togood use when it comes to finding information for the public. As you can imagine, you'll need to be an excellentcommunicator and genuinely enjoy working with people. Along with your diplomacy andrelationship-building skills, you'll need to be confident and able to deal withconflict and frustration in a positive, constructive way. As long as you can bring these skills, andhave senior-level experience in handling customers, you could come from anybackground. Though you don't require a great deal of technicaltransport knowledge, you will need to be able to talk to technical people and beable to understand and explain what they tell you. Preferably you'll have experience withregulations, or know where to get advice, and you'll have the ability tounderstand transport legislation. For someone with an interest in local politics and who likesproblem-solving and people, you'll find this a satisfying challenge. It's an opportunity for you to build on yourcustomer service and public relations skills, and make sure that our customerscome away satisfied with their contact with their council.
