MAHANA SOUTHERN MAORI MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTION SERVICE – POU MAHERE ORA / PRACTITIONER VACANCY – OTAGO & SOUTHLANDMAHANA SOUTHERN MAORI MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTION SERVICE – POU MAHERE ORA / PRACTITIONER VACANCY – OTAGO & SOUTHLAND Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust (NKMP) is seeking experienced Mental Health/Alcohol and Addictions Practitioners to work with whanau in the Southern District (offices based in Dunedin and Invercargill).
Mahana Southern Maori Mental Health and Addiction Service is a southern-wide service offering one-on-one counselling, group work, experiential learning, education and information, and wananga-based interventions.
In joining this Kaupapa Maori service, the desired applicants will have the following attributes and responsibilities:
· Be able to provide confidential counselling and tautoko to tangata whaiora who experience mild to moderate mental health and addiction issues
· Be able to work with individuals, whanau or groups in therapy that engages Maori modalities of wellbeing, etc
· Work well with male tangata whaiora from Community Corrections
· Have a sound knowledge of how Maori / Pasifika / other minority cultures who have challenges of equity / equality
· Be able to use effective communication skills
· Be able to work autonomously and in a team
· Have a comprehensive knowledge of drug treatment modalities
· Highly skilled documentation and able to do comprehensive assessments
· Able to cope under pressure
· Hold a clean current driver's licence
· Have a strong knowledge base of Maori and non-Maori networks within the Otago Region
· Have a good understanding of Tikanga Maori, Te Reo and what a Kaupapa Maori service is.
· Must have appropriate qualifications in addictions and/or mental health
· Be DAPAANZ registered or similar registration boards (or a pathway to gaining registration)
· Adhere by the DAPAANZ Code of Ethics.
Competitive salary. Immediate start date available. This is a full time position. Relocation cost applies to this position for the right candidate.
