Mo te tunga | About the Role The Intensive Care Service includes: Intensive & High Dependency Care, providing tertiary trauma,neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, spinal care, and a large variety of generalsurgical and medical care as well as paediatrics Deteriorating Patient Outreach Service, that supports wards acrossChristchurch Hospital Campus Canterbury Air Retrieval Service, that supports the South IslandRegion The Christchurch Hospital ICU has completed amigration to a new 48 bed, 4 ICU Pod facility. The Intensive Care Servicecurrently operates in 2 ICU pods (24 physical beds). A 3 rd , 12 bed ICU Pod will beoperational in August 2023. Ko wai koe | About you We are looking for a Locum Intensive Care Specialist (up to 24 months), with broad general experience. If you are a newly qualified Specialist looking to broaden your skills or a Specialist with broad skills who now wishes to apply them in a new setting, then we want to hear from you. Experience caring for COVID patients, Paediatrics, Trauma, Neurosurgery and or Cardiothoracic Intensive Care is desirable but not essential. Duties will include the assessment and managementof critically ill and or injured patients referred to the Department ofIntensive Care and assisting in the supervision of medical and other staff. In addition, you will be required to participate inthe Deteriorating Patient Outreach roster across the Christchurch Campus andthe Air Retrieval roster. The successful applicants must be eligible forregistration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and able to obtain a NewZealand work visa. You'll be directly accountable to the ClinicalDirector of the Department of Intensive Care.
