We have an exciting opportunity for someone with previous experience of managing a liquor department in a full-service supermarket chain to further advance their career in our busy New World store.
Key responsibilities:
Complete management of the liquor department
Managing sales and setting pricing.
Working closely with the Owner to achieve both financial and buying objectives
Monitoring sales data and stock levels, and studying trade, manufacturers' and market information to keep informed of changing market conditions
Identifying market trends, monitor market conditions and contributing to seasonal strategy
Manage inventory and all aspects of stock control
Manage costs and growth profitability
Making key decisions about stock, product mix
Manage the department budget
Manage staff roster, payroll, leaves, staff performance and disciplinary issues.
Analyse sales figures, forecast future sales volume and set prices to maximize the profits of the business
Managing financial records/transactions for the liquor section
Assess sales performance for products
Recruitment and training of staff.
Delivering a high level of customer service.
Advertising and sales promotion
Ensure supplier quality and standards are acceptable. Compare suppliers for quality, price when determining supply.
Implement purchasing and marketing policies by liaising with suppliers over new products, negotiating prices, product promotion etc.
Maintain good working relationships with suppliers
Reviewing and implementing local marketing policies.
Comply with Health & Safety policies and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act
You must meet the following skills and experience requirements:
At least one experience of working in the Liquor Department of a full-service supermarket chain in the management position.
Must have a General Manager Certificate
Must have Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ)
Must have an NZ tertiary business qualification
Computer literate with SAP experience
Previous experience of leading and developing a customer-focused team
Ability to meet both financial and operational targets while providing excellent customer service
Knowledge and understanding of NZ liquor industry regulations and the ability to enforce these with confidence and authority
Able to ensure that the business is meeting all the requirements of sales and supply of Alcohol Act 2012
Must have Class One clean full NZ Driver Licence
Willing to work on flexible hours including weekends
