Napier Libraries has an exciting opportunity for an exceptionally organised and passionate individual to join their vibrant team as the Collections Lead, serving across both the Napier and Taradale sites.
As the Collections Lead, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Collections Team, ensuring the delivery of efficient and customer-centric collections services to the Napier community. Additionally, you will be instrumental in charting the strategic course for library content in alignment with the Library Strategy, Collections Plan, and Napier City Council's Long-Term Plan.
Responsibilities will include: Lead the strategic development and management of the existing library content across all formats, including exploring and implementing new formats as guided by the Library Strategy. Research, develop, and strategically implementnew collection formats in response to evolving technology and community interests. Cultivate content, collections, and processes that foster inclusive access for our entire community, celebrating diversity, promoting intellectual growth, and facilitating lifelong learning. Recognise the unique status of Maori as tangata whenua and Treaty partners. Ensure that content and collections embody a spirit of partnership and collaboration through consultation with Maori and te ao Maori. Employ collection evaluation tools to establish evaluation and reporting mechanisms for all content (both physical and digital), enabling informed decisions for future use and budget allocation. Manage collections budgets, offering regular budget updates to the Library Manager and addressing any potential concerns. Collaborate with the Community Engagement Team to promote library content within the community through social media channels, enhancing both content and access. To thrive in this role, candidates should possess: A tertiary library qualification or equivalent experience in the field. Demonstrated experience in team development and leadership. Proficiency in collection management tools. Familiarity with Library Management Systems (LMS), UAT, authentication technologies for digital content, and mobile apps. Strong budget management skills. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, overseeing a team of four individuals.
