Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Maori Theology at University of Otago, Otago MATAI WHAKAPONO KARAITIANA - THE THEOLOGY PROGRAMMETE KETE ARONUI - DIVISION of HUMANITIESWe are seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to join Matai Whakapono Karaitiana - The Theology Programme at the University of Otago.Theology has been taught at the University of Otago for over 75 years. The University of Otago is a research-intensive university with a long history of excellence in teaching and research. We offer courses in Biblical Studies, Christian Thought and History, and Pastoral Theology. Our students include those from other areas in the Humanities, Education, Sciences, Commerce, and Law. While the Programme exists within a public university context, it also has strong and long-standing links with a wide variety of churches throughout New Zealand.We are committed to strengthening our curriculum and research in relation to matauranga Maori and the Treaty of Waitangi, and in accordance with the University of Otago's Maori Strategic Framework. This position offers an opportunity for a suitably qualified scholar to teach from a kaupapa Maori perspective and to conduct research that will be beneficial for Maori communities.Te mahi - The roleIn this role you will be expected to engage in ongoing research, teaching, and undertake postgraduate supervision. It is hoped that the appointee will teach existing papers on Maori Religion and Theology; Matauranga Maori and the Bible; and Christian Ministry in Te Ao Maori and develop a new paper in some aspect of Christian Theology that draws upon the resources of matauranga Maori.In addition, you will undertake research and share the results of your research through appropriate avenues including academic and popular publications, conferences, and workshops or seminars with stakeholders in the wider community.The successful candidate will be a full staff member of the Theology Programme, and will be expected to take appropriate administrative and service roles within the Theology Programme. The expectation of academic staff members is that they will devote approximately 40% of their time to teaching and preparation, 40% to research, and 20% to administration and service activities.The successful candidate will be a scholar with research experience and a completed PhD in the area of Christian Theology.
