Applications are welcome in the general area of Construction Engineering and Management, but preference may be given to candidates with experience in at least one of the following: Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Supply Chain, Cost Engineering, Construction Technology and Project Management. It is expected that the candidates to the position have excellent and demonstrable track records not only in research but teaching at the corresponding academic level.The University of Auckland is New Zealand's pre-eminent research-led University. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is the largest departments in the Faculty of Engineering, with approximately 50 academic staff, 1,000 undergraduates and over 150 postgraduate students. We provide BE (Hons) degree programme in Civil and Environmental Engineering, together with a range of postgraduate taught courses and research based degrees at masters and doctoral levels.The Department has an established strong reputation in the traditional fields of the discipline, being ranked 38th in the World according to the QS World Ranking 2017. We have collaborative links with research groups and industry within New Zealand and across the world.The appointee will work as part of the Construction Engineering and Management Group in the Department and will be required to develop research collaborations with researchers both within and outside that Group.The appointee will be research-focussed and be required to undertake high quality research, researcher supervision and teaching in their area of specialisation. They will be committed to the development and delivery of high quality curricula and courses and have excellent communication skills. They will also contribute to the wider activities of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and perform service roles for the department, faculty or university.Our ideal candidateThe successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant area. Additional industrial experience is desirable.
