Mo te turanga | About the role Our team has an equity focus working in partnership with communities. We work in various settings to promote health and wellbeing, reduce inequities and work alongside focus populations to support them in building on their strengths to address priorities, for example, alcohol harm reduction, healthy food environments and mental wellbeing, and working with partners to identify and address other determinants e.g. rural wellbeing. The opportunities available are: Permanent, part-time (0.5FTE, 20 hours per week) with a key focus on healthy food environments Permanent, full-time (1.0FTE, 40 hours per week) with a key focus on alcohol harm reduction Our mahi involves building connections and maintaining effective relationships. As the Kaiwhakatairanga Hauora – Health Promotion Advisor, alongside the key focus of your portfolio you will also be involved in: Working as part of a team with colleagues in Te Whatu Ora and Te Ake Whai Ora, supported by our Communities' Leadership team members Establish effective and trusted relationships with key stakeholders to support the implementation of health promotion initiatives e.g. mental wellbeing, healthy food environments Collaborating with community, other organisations and sectors, to identify and address health priorities. Mou ake | About you Health promotion experience along with experience working with community development is highly desirable; Health promotion qualification is advantageous but not essential; An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to working with communities to promote health and wellbeing; We are looking for a motivated team member who enjoys connecting and working with community partners such as councils, NGOs and schools. In this role you will build and maintain great working relationships with community partners in Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago to support the implementation of health promotion strategies You will have excellent organisational, communication and computer skills. You will have the confidence to build successful working relationships with those around you, the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment.
