Newly created position Make an intergenerational impact Permanent or Fixed Term About the organisation The External Reporting Board (XRB) is an Independent Crown entity responsible for the development and issuing of accounting, auditing and assurance, climate-related and sustainability reporting standards, and guidance in New Zealand. We are committed to ensuring New Zealand prospers through effective decision making informed by high-quality, credible, and integrated reporting. About the role Reporting to the Chief Executive, this newly created position will work primarily across two key projects. Firstly, providing leadership and guidance to the Nga pou o te kawa ora project, whereby the Kaiwhakahaere will work with XRB staff and governance on the development of the framework. This will be informed by liaising directly with Maori and non-Maori entities, to ensure that multiple voices are taken into consideration. This is a phenomenal opportunity to play a lead role in the development of an intergenerational impact reporting framework for Aotearoa New Zealand that incorporates te ao Maori into its design. This work aims to help entities communicate their value and impact beyond monetary perspectives. Secondly, the coherence between the XRB's current and future standards with te ao Maori. The standards issued by XRB have not been assessed for their alignment with te ao Maori and the Kaiwhakahaere will facilitate with a small working group to identify where there is room for enhancement within the standards. About you Given the nature of the role, this would suit an experienced CA or CPA who is looking to make more of an enduring impact in their work. You're likely familiar with the standards and believe that you can make a meaningful contribution to how entities report and tell their story. You do not need to be at CFO level, it is more important that you have a good understanding of reporting. You will be committed to strengthening the Maori-Crown relationship through Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will bring a deep understanding of Maori values, practice, and perspective to your work, as well as fluency in te reo Maori me ona tikanga. You will also have: A deep understanding of te ao Maori. Excellent knowledge of, and substantial experience and expertise in a preparer, advisory and/or management role relating to accountancy, sustainability reporting or audit and assurance. Excellent connections with Maori reporting entities and the ability to connect with previously uncontacted reporting entities based on mana in the wider community. Highly developed analytical and strategic skills and demonstrated initiative and creativity when solving problems. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences. An ability to undertake some domestic (and, if required, international) travel. For a confidential discussion please contact Scott King at ****** please note all applications will be acknowledged electronically. #J-18808-Ljbffr
