Success is not the work of one, but the work of many.Permanent, Full-time80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE)An opportunity has arisen within Te Wahanga Hauora Maori (The Maori Health Service) at Health New Zealand |Te Whatu Ora ki Te Matau a Maui, Hawke's Bay as a Kaitakawaenga (Maori Cultural Advisor) working within the Wairoa Health Centre.The successful applicant will be required to work Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 4.30pm providing the following:Supporting Maori patients in their health journey and can bring Tikanga and Maori models of care to the fore.Cultural and health literacy support to Maori patients.Support Maori patients and their travelling to Wairoa Health Centre, Hastings Hospital, and/or other services and districts to ensure their treatment is of a high quality.The role will give the successful applicant the ability to work within a Maori kaupapa focussed service providing unfaltering support for tangata whaiora.There will be a need to work independently as well as within a team, have excellent communication skills, have good time management, have a reasonably good knowledge base in health and have a good understanding of the local Maori community.A registered Social Worker who has worked within a hospital setting would be a great advantage.A reasonably good knowledge of te reo Maori and Kahungunutanga would also be an advantage.Located in the sunny Hawkes Bay we live in pure paradise.
