TeHerenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Kaiarahi Ako Matua - Senior Learning Adviser to join Te Taiako - Student Learning on a permanent, full-time contract. The role includes delivering general learning advising programmes and services for student academic skills enhancement at Te Taiako - Student Learning. Additionally, the role will be responsible for providing leadership and support for programme and resource development. Key responsibilities: Academic skills enhancement for diverse learners at all levels of studywith a focus on academic writing. Programme planning, design implementation and management. Pan University learning and teaching. Student Wellbeing and Safety. You will: Have a tertiary qualification and relevant experience in supporting adult learners. Be experienced in programme design, management and administration. Be able to lead staff and students to enhance their academic skills capabilities at undergraduate and postgraduate level and collaborate on pan-university projects. Be a highly-organised self-starter, able to work both autonomously and within a high performing team, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate understanding of Te Herenga Waka students' diverse cultural, academic, language and learning needs, and the values of akoranga, manaakitanga and whanaungatanga. Be passionate about student retention and achievement. Key requirements: Proven experience in an academic writing adviser role (or similar) in the tertiary environment. Proven experience in programme design, management, administration and evaluation. Experience leading teams or working as part of a team in wider contexts. Proven experience in building effective relationships across an organisation and working strategically to achieve teaching and learning goals. Outstanding interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
