ABOUT SPACE SYSTEMS AT ROCKET LAB: Rocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defence sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.
ABOUT THE ROLE: Based in New Zealand, this is a broad-spectrum role primarily avionics components for space applications. Our fundamental goal is to ensure our products survive the rigors of launch and space for the entire mission lifecycle. Your role working with avionics hardware is critical to this mission, and the main line of defence to ensure the quality and reliability of Avionics components in a fast-paced development environment.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: Support design, test, verification, and validation of space systems avionics components and test platforms.Support development and characterization electronic sub-circuits including digital, power, and analogue sensing circuits including for use in radiation and/or harsh environments.Support engineering change processes for avionics components.Work closely to different engineering disciplines, technicians, and subject matter experts across a range of departments.Calibration of test platforms, preparing test setup for development and qualification test campaigns of avionics components.Some travel to support programs may be required.YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, or mechatronics engineering degree.1+ years of experience with hardware development or electronics test engineering.Excellent communication both written and verbal.Ability to apply engineering and industry concepts & theories.THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: Master's in electrical, electronics, mechatronics, or other relevant engineering degree.Understanding of instrumentation, interfaces, and sensors.Understanding of electronic circuits, design principles, and manufacturing techniques.Software skills e.g. C, C++, Python.Familiarity with harness and grounding design.Familiarity with National Instruments platforms including DAQ, PXI, and cRIO.Familiarity with environmental testing, such as vibration, shock, thermal, and TVAC.Familiarity with Altium.ROCKET LAB EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: The opportunity to work on innovative and groundbreaking technology.An employee stock purchase programAccess to world leading experts to develop your career.Unlimited barista coffee, fruit, and snacksRocket Lab merchandise – T-shirts, mission patches etc.Discounted health insurance with Southern CrossAdditional parental leave entitlementsA vibrant team culture with social activities throughout the yearIf the any of the above sounds like youapplynow!
