Hybrid role with offices overlooking Wellington HarbourOwnership of large scale technology projectsMake a difference to thousands of people across the capital Wellington Electricity are extending their technical capability, and are looking for an IT Operations and Automation Manager to lead a suite of technology upgrades and rollouts. As part of a large IT modernisation programme, you will take the lead on several software and system projects, with responsibility for the business alignment of the IT systems and will work on the continuous improvement of business operational efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation for organisational workflows.Automate IT networks, including tasks like patch management, software upgrades, and configuration automation.Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritise and groom the product backlog.Escalate and monitor outstanding issues with vendors, coordinating internal resources for resolution.Work closely with product owners and stakeholders to define and refine user stories and acceptance criteria.Ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of our network environment and business applications.Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to gather and analyse project requirements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document and improve business processes.Manage relationships with Audit, Governance, and Cyber Teams to ensure system robustness and security.Contribute to budget planning for ongoing BAU costs and potential upgrades.
Skills and Qualifications:
Technical understanding of Microsoft Azure and automation tools.DevOps and CI/CD automation experience with tools like Ansible, Jenkins, and Gitea.Proficient in project backlog management and strategic alignment.Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash, Python.Experience in Linux and Windows system administration.Familiarity with secure systems integrations using ODBC, Web Services, and ETL solutions.Expertise in using Azure DevOps for Epics, Features, and backlog management.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.New Zealand Diploma in Engineering or tertiary qualification in electrical, IT, or telecommunications.Agile and Business Analysis certifications are desired.
