As an Instructor at Otago Corrections Facility, you will teach, support, and use your life experiences to help others unleash their talents and be part of something that can be life changing. You will be providing direct supervision and practical training within a commercial kitchen setting. From general meal preparation and delivery to corporate catering, you will enable our people to achieve NZQA qualifications and provide a platform of good working habits for them to take forward to the future.
The role also provides support to the laundry operation, as part of the wider Internal Services Team.
General hours of work though will be Monday-Sunday between 0600-1800 and will be on a rostered shift basis of 80 hours per fortnight. Working public holidays, overtime and/or call outs may be required at times.

Experience and a proven passion in the Catering industry at a professional levelOutstanding Health & Safety practicesExceptional communication skillsThe ability to motivate and develop people within a team environmentLondon City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent trade qualificationsThe ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, medical assessment, and physical readiness assessmentExperience as an adult educator or NZQA Assessor (4098) is preferred, along with a current First Aid Certificate.You will need to declare any conflicts of interest and/or previous convictions in your application. Note: The Criminal History Check isExemptfrom The Clean Slate Act. In other words, the Clean Slate Act does not apply to this position. Please declare any offences (even outside 7 years) in your application. In line with our StrategyHokai Rangi, we are prioritising applications from people who have experience in a Kaupapa Maori or Pasifika environment and/or a willingness to learn. Instructors have the same classification as Corrections Officers and, as such, complete the same initial training courses. This will involve on-site training as well as residential training at our National Learning Centre in Upper Hutt, Wellington, to focus on the custodial elements of the position.
The salary range for this position is $67,514 - $83,191 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
