Are you early in your Planning career or are you a seasoned professional? Either way this is an exciting opportunity, and we want to hear from you.
This role will provide relevant and specific professional planning, policy and organisational advisory and coordination duties related to the Infrastructure Group.
You will provide relevant and effective advice to support Council's policy and operational response to the requirements of the District Plan and Resource Management Act from an infrastructure planning and program perspective.
You will be advising on and producing district and regional council resource consent applications for projects and operations, including community, hapu and iwi consultation. There is a huge variety of projects requiring assistance ranging from tree removal and seawalls to stormwater network consents. You will be continually working with the infrastructure and asset planners facilitating the development, reviewing and improving of processes for consenting.
You will coordinate comments on resource consents impacting on Parks and Infrastructure land and assets, including assisting in developing consent conditions and determining esplanade and easement requirements.
In addition, you will liaise with and coordinate consultants, community and agency input into infrastructure and parks projects and plans, including reserve management plans, project scopes and policies and strategies.
There is opportunity to become involved in a wide range of Council initiatives from major infrastructure upgrade projects to climate change adaptation.
Our ideal candidate would have some of the following:
A relevant degree e.g. Bachelor of Planning or Bachelor of Resource and Environmental PlanningPractical working knowledge of the Resource Management Act, Reserves Act and Local Government ActAn interest in water, wastewater and stormwater as well as open space, recreation and conservation issuesWell-developed report writing, communication and consultation skillsThe ability to set and meet appropriate standards and deadlinesCommitment to continuous improvement.In addition, the candidate should have a desire to work in accordance with and embrace Whangarei District Council's organisational tikanga and commit to building effective, sustainable working relationships that benefit our organisation and the community we serve.
