Canterbury Rugby Football Union

Details of the offer

Board Appointments (CEO & General Management) The Canterbury Rugby Football Union invites applications for an Independent Director of the Board, for a three-year term to conclude at the end of the Union's Annual General Meeting in 2027. The Union's Constitution provides for the appointment of three Independent Directors to the governing Board of the Union. Through the Union's three-year rotation policy, each year an Independent Director is appointed following the Union's AGM. Other positions on the Board are elected by delegates representing clubs and other rugby interests. The current incumbent has indicated that they will be seeking reappointment. The Independent Director must not only have a keen interest in all levels of rugby but must be able to assist in bringing a further broadening of view to the business activities of the Union. An understanding of the importance of community relationships to the ongoing success of rugby as an integral part of the Canterbury community will also be an important attribute of the successful applicant. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate both strong governance skills and experience and proven commercial acumen. Canterbury Rugby was the first Provincial Union in New Zealand to receive the Rainbow Tick certification and welcome applicants who can bring diversity to the Board. Applications should include an up to date Curriculum Vitae and the names and contact details of two persons who would be prepared to provide references. The Appointments Committee also asks that applicants outline in their application why they are interested in the position, why they believe they are suited to this important role for rugby in Canterbury and the particular strengths that they would bring to the Board. Applications are to be received no later than 5pm on Wednesday, 28th February 2024.
