Description ICT Network or Telecommunications Technician required for this position Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs telecommunications equipment and data/voice cabling including computer and telephone lines, Voice over IP (VoIP) equipment and cabling for fibre optic, Ethernet switches, and battery packs; installs, programs, and moves telephones. Serves as a lead to other Telecommunications Technicians.
Directs the daily workflow of the Next Generation Communications Telecommunications Technician workgroups. Monitors work orders and trouble tickets. Dispatches Telecommunications Technicians and clears trouble tickets.
Responds to Help Desk, Information Technology and/or supervisor requests; repairs or resolves telecommunications problems; services telecommunications equipment both on and off campus.
Provide on-going technical support for troubleshooting, optimizing ICT network performance at all terminals including RAT, OFDC, FAT, ABFAT, Network Cabinet and customer’s end with the help of instruments like LAN cable tester and visual fault locator.
Punching and testing of RJ45 jacks, Crone panels and Patch panels required for putting computers and other peripherals to the network.
Orders parts and controls inventory for the telecommunications area.
Documents and maintains all Telecom closets and equipment rooms including labelling telephone, computer or cabling equipment, and cleaning and securing all closets/rooms.
Works with vendors to identify issues and determine proper resolution.
Provides assistance to the Telecommunications Manager, as needed.
May conduct site visits on behalf of the Telecommunications Manager to inspect the work of other technicians.
Installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment and cabling.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Installation, Testing, programming and Commissioning of Routers, Servers, Switches, ETP, ONT and other appliances for Computer Networks such as LAN, WAN.
Sets up a network connection on a host computer/laptop by logging the default network settings such as IP address, Proxy, Gateway, Network username and ID, Password to enable network connection and communication.
Installing wires and cables to IT equipment for Structured Voice and Data Cabling, Provide high-level customer services.
Responding to requests and resolving telecommunications problems.
Maintaining telecom closets and equipment room.
Reading door plans, blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings.
Ordering parts and controlling inventory.
Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Maintaining an established work schedule and providing on-call assistance, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Effectively handling conflict and uncertain situations.
Ability to train others.
Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy.
Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through. Qualifications:
Demonstrates proficiency using standard office software applications as well as administration of instructional technology and telecommunications hardware, servers, network systems including video and wireless, database management systems, and providing technical support for desktop systems.
Qualification in Telecommunications / Computing / Information Technology / Electronics / Networking / Communication.
NZ Qualification minimum level 4 or above in IT or Telecommunication Requirements for this role:
Minimum 1 to 3 years of relevant Industry experience prefer, also we can provide Field Training , how to work if someone is fresh but should have minimum 2 years work visa if someone starting this job first time.
Should have current Basic traffic controller Certificate
Should have First Aid training / WTC1 / WTC3
Should have Full clean New Zealand Driver License
Be competent with hand/power tools, and other technical equipment
Be physically strong and fit for doing a field work
Be comfortable working at heights and in restricted spaces
Prepare required paperwork in a timely manner
Exceptional communication skills and relationship building skills
Good knowledge about networking.
Have High Energy levels and great enthusiasm.
Willing to work extra hours, weekends and anywhere in NZ
No criminal convictions
