What we offer We are seeking a Health & Safety Manager for our East Coast region, where we have a busy stevedoring operation on the ports of Gisborne and Napier, as well as a large log transport division with over 120 trucks. You will be responsible for managing the health and safety of all our operational sites in the region, reporting to the National H&S Manager. You will be the leader in driving health and safety culture and performance across our diverse operations. What you will do Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures that comply with the relevant regulations and best practices Manage and work across multiple sites over the East Coast Region ensuring compliance and best practice is occurring Manage a small team of local H&S Professionals Work with multiple regulators and industry bodies Work with our teams to ensure health and safety is integrated into their daily roles and activities Investigate and report on incidents, near misses and accidents, and take corrective actions to prevent recurrence Keep up to date with the latest legislative changes and industry trends, and ensure continuous improvement of health and safety practices Manage monthly H&S KPIs and reporting What you need A tertiary qualification Level 4 Nat Cert minimum, ideally working towards Level 6 Nat Dip (or extensive relevant work experience as a safety professional), workplace safety management experience and knowledge of quality management principles and auditing ICAM Trained Can work independently and unsupervised Will work to deadlines, but can be highly adaptive to meet changing shipping schedules Be willing to travel between operational sites and assist head office/ other regions as required Experience in the ports/stevedoring and transport industry, however we are willing to talk with safety professionals from various industries, especially those involving heavy plant and equipment In depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills Why join us If you are passionate about Health and Safety, and want to be part of an innovative company that is leading the Port Industry and has a passion to lead change.
