Occupational Health & Safety (Human Resources & Recruitment)OSPRI is an integrated national disease management agency and a proud part of New Zealand's agricultural sector. We play an important part in protecting New Zealand's biosecurity system.OSPRI currently manages three major national programmes: TBfree (directed at the eradication of bovine tuberculosis), M.bovis (OSPRI manages the Mycoplasma bovis programme under a government industry agreement) and NAIT (National Animal Identification and Tracing system).Based in Wellington, the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead is responsible for proactively supporting all aspects of Health, Safety and Wellbeing at OSPRI. This position covers a broad spectrum of Health and Safety activities, including leading a direct report to enable the successful delivery of the management system and operational programme of work. As the successful candidate, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and promoting a positive culture in the workplace, where Health, Safety and Wellbeing are embedded in who we are through the implementation of best practice systems, processes, and initiatives.You will be responsible for providing advice and support on Health, Safety and Wellbeing for both internal OSPRI people, liaising with Health and Safety management for our external contractors, and you will collaborate on developing and maintaining a progressive, practical and engaging Health, Safety and Wellbeing programme for the organisation. This is a varied role where you will lead OSPRI's safety system, undertake regular analysis and reporting for governance, and influence and drive an effective culture of health, safety, and wellbeing at work.We are seeking an outgoing, engaging, and passionate experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing professional who can quickly gain credibility with what you know and your practical ability to translate this. You will have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse key stakeholders, and be able to travel to our other work locations from time to time. You will be confident in providing value and giving advice with respect to system management and governance, hazard identification, process management, and critical risk management within the safety-related disciplines.Being proactive with a can-do attitude and good interpersonal skills is essential. As someone who is bold and ambitious and has the ability to work in an open, collaborative, and inclusive manner, you will be excited by the opportunity to drive this integral function at OSPRI. We are looking for someone who not only has excellent subject matter expertise but can shape the work and our culture in a very practical way, making Health and Safety visible, accessible, and user friendly.A sound understanding of ISO 45001 is advantageous, as is prior experience working within an operational organisation where Health and Safety critical risks exist outside of an office environment.
