Te whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand |Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned , regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have three exciting opportunities as a Health Promotion Advisor| Kaitohu Whakatairanga Hauora. These roles are based within the Community and Whanau Wellbeing team which aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of the whole community through creating supportive environments to make healthy choices more available to whanau.You'll be dedicated to seeing communities thrive and will partner with them to deliver initiatives that realise Pae Ora.
In this role, you will:
· Foster community partnerships to design, deliver, and evaluate collaborative health promotion initiatives.
· Develop effective relationships and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to address the social determinants of health.
· Work closely with local government, iwi and hapu, and our priority communities to bring about positive change on a wide range of areas including smokefree, food security, physical activity, alcohol, mental wellbeing, and the early years.
· Focus on achieving equity for Maori and priority groups including Pacific, Rainbow Community, and Tangata Whaikaha.
· Innovative thinking and a passion for improving community and whanau wellbeing.
· The ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
· A tertiary qualification in a related field, such as health promotion, public health, Maori health, social sciences, or relevant experience.
· Experience in project management including planning, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion initiatives.
· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
· A commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions. This includes an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in this role
· A willingness to learn and be part of achieving positive change.
