Health or Clinical Psychologist (Part/Full time) ARHOP, Middlemore HospitalCloses 03 Aug 2020Posted 15 Jul 2020PermanentPart time/full timeRemuneration will be in line with MECA guidelinesWe are seeking either a either Clinical or Health Psychologist to join the Adult Rehabilitation and Health of Older People (ARHOP) services. This role is mainly based at Middlemore Hospital and provides psychological support services for adult and older adult in-patient rehabilitation. This includes support to the Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit at Papatoetoe (ASRU), one of only two specialist spinal rehab units in NZ. It is an exciting time for ARHOP, as we are developing new models of care in close collaboration with our community rehabilitation teams.This role requires a Psychologist who is energetic and innovative, keen to work as part of the team providing services for the treatment and rehabilitation of people following life changing health events such as stroke, amputation, head injury, complex orthopaedic, neurological and spinal cord impairment as well as a range of other physical health conditions.Treatment will include providing psychological assessment and intervention to enhance coping and adjustment to impairment, assisting with behavioural management difficulties as well as consultation to the interdisciplinary team. In addition to direct clinical roles, the role includes provision of direct clinical services to patients and their significant others. There will be extensive opportunities to contribute to service development, staff consultation, consultation services with other staff and staff training, and psychological assessment and rehabilitation.You will work within a small, supportive team of ARHOP psychologists, and have wider collegial and professional support from the Psychological Medicine service.
