Mo te tunga | About the role We are looking for an experienced Finance management professional to join our Finance team for up to 12 months at our Open Polytechnic campus in Lower Hutt. Reporting to the Executive Director Open Polytechnic, with a dotted line to the Strategic Finance Director, Te Pukenga, the Head of Finance is a varied leadership role responsible for the delivery of finance, budgeting/forecasting and associated reporting functions for Open Polytechnic. The key focus of this role in the short term is to support transition to our future organisation, ensure a continual improvement focus and a drive toward operational and commercial excellence through business partnering and commercial support to the business. The role is responsible for: Delivery of financial information. Monthly financial reporting and forecasting including CAPEX. Ensuring continuation of compliance and control processes. Ensuring financial outcomes are achieved and informed. Managing budgeting and financial processes, including supporting the FMISF/EPM system project. Management of the Open Polytechnic Finance team. You'll need to have: Tertiary qualification BCom or equivalent (essential) Minimum of 3 years' experience and achievement in a senior finance role with significant staff and financial leadership responsibility Significant finance experience with a large, complex organisation Strong leadership, motivation, people and relationship management skills Strong commercial acumen and market orientation Proven ability to build rapport, maintain excellent relationships and work effectively and collaboratively with others across a broad cross section of people Strong focus on providing a high level of customer service Demonstrated effective communication skills including the ability to negotiate, persuade and influence others Innovative, self-motivated and high level of resilience and patience High level of attention to detail with excellent organizational and planning skills The Kuratini Tuwhera is Aotearoa New Zealand's leading distance and online learning provider.
