The RoleThe Harvesting & Planning Forester is responsible for assisting the Regional Manager, North Island in coordinating and controlling the company's harvest and associated planning and road engineering activities. The Harvesting & Planning Forester will report directly to the Regional Manager, North Island and will collaborate with the Regional Forester to ensure that operational activities in the field are coordinated effectively. Key Responsibilities:Implementation of harvesting, harvest planning, and road engineering services to ensure harvest budgets are met.Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, environment, and other legislative requirements.Managing and developing a high-performing team of harvesting and road contractors.Assist in managing all aspects of risk and protecting the North Island Forest assets.Coordinating wood flow logistics and log quality control. Key Requirements:Tertiary qualification such as Bachelor of Forestry Science, Forest Engineering or Forest Management.Previous experience working in a similar role is desirable.Practical knowledge of Harvesting, Harvest Planning and Road Construction Systems.Ability to work collaboratively but also autonomously.Adaptability to deal with shifting demands and situations.Excellent communication skills both oral and written.Good working knowledge of ArcGIS and RoadEng.What's in it for you?Port Blakely is an industry leader in land and resource management, so you'll be working for a reputable and well-known organisation, that encourages employee professional development.
