As a Halal Quality Assurance Officer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to exciting projects that make a real difference.Job Description: To ensure the Halal team produces product that conforms to the Halal Standard required by the business through the adherence of Halal slaughter processes and the assessment and compliance of Halal Slaughter team (existing or prospective) with the Muslim faith.You will also provide backup leadership support for the Primary Team Leader, and will provide leave cover in their absence. Key Responsibilities:Contribute to the national development of an audit check sheet.Ensure that the Halal premises' day to day operations are in accordance with the Halal program.Identify any Shariah, Haram or Mushbooh product and escalate immediately and appropriately.Provide oversight and direct the Primary and Halal team to conform to best practice in Humane and Halal slaughter as approved by the business and as trained.Requirement to have Unit Standards: NZQA21623, NZQA25926 and NZQA25924 (or an alternative auditing competency standard that is equivalent to this).Follow and adhere to the Animal Welfare training as provided by the business.Report any major non-compliance to the Production Manager and Halal Committee as appropriate.Provide any information requested by Tegel's approved Halal organisation(s) providing certification services and MPI when requested.Keep accurate records which demonstrate that the approved Halal programme is being complied with.Be present during each Halal slaughter shift.Train and coach any new Halal team member in their duties and provide verification of skills where required.Train and coach the Primary and Halal team members as required by the business.Work with the TC and TL to ensure both Primary and Halal team members' rosters meet business demands and contractual time stipulations.Complete all audits or compliance requests / forms as required.When required by Tegel and not contradicting the HQAO auditing functions, work as part of the Halal team rotating through the roles.Participates in Regional Halal Committee meetings.Manages attendance and behaviours of the Primary and Halal team members in conjunction with the Team Leader.Assists P&C where appropriate with any disciplinary requirements for Halal team members.Qualifications:A practicing MuslimAppropriate qualifications in Halal Slaughter and auditing processes.Knowledge of Halal and primary processesAbility to lead and influence the Halal teamAbility to communicate with employees at all levelsAttention to detail and strict adherence to Halal processing procedures If you think you have what it takes to build a successful career with Tegel, apply online now!
