About the Role The Group Leader is a production leadership role and is responsible for overseeing the daily activities in the Primary Butchery department at our Hawera site. Critical to the effective operation of the entire department, the Group Leader provides direction to their people, daily operations, health and safety, quality, and compliance. Strong leadership skills are imperative to the success of this role, and we are looking for someone who has run a large department.
This is a Night Shift position so the successful candidate will need to be available and willing to work Monday to Friday from 2:30PM – 12:30AM, as well as any Saturday overtime.
Key Requirements: Previous experience at leading people and helping them growChampion health & safety within your department with a focus on continuous improvementReview production performance and investigate/put in place corrective actions with department leaders when requiredUnderstand food safety and quality requirements, and how these apply to your teamBuild an uncompromising safety culture Champion continuous improvement and encourage team members to find new ideas to improve work practices About You To be successful in this role, you will be experienced as a leader, ideally from your time spent in the manufacturing, FMCG or primary industries; and ideally have specific skills around training and developing relationships with their team. You will demonstrate experience with developing and driving team culture through leading by example and have a solid understanding of standard production processes and principles.
Experience in a production leadership role, ideally within the food processing industryProven background in training, coaching and mentoring team members to increase the skill level in all areas of your departmentKnowledge of employee relations principles and confident with assisting your Team Leaders with workforce managementExcellent knowledge of regulatory and hygiene compliance requirements and issuesCompetent to an intermediate/high level in Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook Why work at Silver Fern Farms?
