A bit about the role:
The role is newly created in the team to support across a number of areas on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
There is the potential for this role to convert to a permanent appointment if everything goes well for both parties - this will naturally be established over the course of the contract.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this position will play a crucial role in managing fixed assets, predominantly aircraft, ensuring accurate and timely accounting transactions.
In addition to overseeing day-to-day accounting tasks, the Group Accountant will collaborate with the wider finance team to support various group-level activities.
Key Responsibilities include: Maintain Group financial model and consolidationConsolidation of monthly results, with specific responsibility for maintaining consolidation adjustments, equity earnings and ensuring business compliance Prepare monthly financial reports for the Group including, overdue debtors report, capex report and FX reports Prepare the annual and half year statutory financial statements incompliance with IFRSLiaise with business Group Tax Manager and Finance Managers in relation to key inputs into tax calculations (income tax and indirect taxes) and tax accountingMonitor financial reporting of JV and associate companiesAnnual insurance renewals for aviation and general insuranceConsideration, assessment and documentation of accounting treatments and interpretations, including evaluation of the impact of new reporting standardsWhat are we looking for?
The ideal candidate for this role will be a Chartered Accountant with a tertiary degree in accounting with 2 years experience post-qualification.
Experience in the preparation of financial statements and company consolidations with a detailed knowledge of reporting standards and IFRS requirements.
Advanced Excel skills along with the ability to interpret and explain data in both commercial and financial terms are essential traits together with strong attention to detail, flexibility, and initiative.
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required along with a valid NZ driver's licence.
