General Manager, Tennis South Canterbury General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management) It's an exciting time for tennis in South Canterbury and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow tennis from grassroots through to high-performing tennis. We are transforming how we deliver tennis, to make it more accessible, to more people, more often. To help us achieve our plan we are looking for a general manager to join Tennis South Canterbury (TSC) on an up to 30 hours per week basis. About the role: The General Manager will ensure all annual operational, strategic, and financial objectives are achieved while driving the growth of Tennis participation, engagement, promotion, and development within the South Canterbury region. The role is aimed at attracting and retaining players to clubs, building awareness, optimising programmes, tournaments, and events, and promoting the use of the facilities while also growing stakeholder engagement. Working alongside and assisting clubs, coaches, schools, and volunteers will be critical in attracting players, members, and volunteers. The General Manager will be accountable to the board of Tennis South Canterbury and ensuring all policies are adhered to and health and safety practices are met. They will: Oversee and provide support for the Administration Coordinator to ensure they can develop and implement the centre's Safety Management System (SMS). Provide leadership for the TSC staff & coaching team and be able and prepared to work at all levels. This will include recruitment, conducting appraisals and reviewing performance. Support, inspire, connect, foster, promote and market TSC to potential clients and stakeholders (all tennis players and the community). This will be done by creating marketing material and utilise digital platforms to better connect and engage with the tennis and local community. Gather revenue through sponsorship and funding avenues to promote new tennis competitions, tournaments, and programmes for TSC. Oversee administrative support, including handling all aspects of accounts administration, payroll, and general administration.  Work with the Board of TSC to further develop the centre, including vision planning and facilities management. What we are looking for: We are looking for someone passionate about the value of physical activity, sport and inspiring youth through to more mature participants. The ideal applicant will have a solid background in a variety of sporting activities which have been customer-facing as well as experience and proven performance in both management and leadership roles. They will be required to deliver activities and manage and work alongside the TSC team and the TSC Board to grow and develop our operation.  Ideally, the successful applicant will have: Demonstrated commercial acumen, and strong customer service ethic with the ability to develop and maintain effective networks and key relationships.  Demonstrated understanding of sports administration. Sound & proven leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate others through positive reinforcement, negotiation and persuasion. Excellent written & oral communication skills, with an understanding/experience in preparing funding applications. Experience in finance management, budgeting, and reporting with the ability to think logically and analyse data or complex information. Advanced computer and numeracy skills, a sound knowledge of the Microsoft suite, computer systems including and social media platforms. Committed to continuous improvement, always looking at what and how services are delivered to see if results are achieved most efficiently and effectively. Experience with & commitment to Health and Safety management. A current driver's license and current first aid certificate. Be willing to obtain a current Police Check.
