The General Manager (GM) at Prolam, plays a pivotal role in steering the Prolam towards its strategic goals and growth. This executive position demands a dynamic leader capable of driving and managing key operational areas, including operations at the two site Waiwhero and Little Sydney, Finance, Prolam systems and Technical compliance, Sales, and Marketing. The GM is responsible for crafting, owning, and executing the strategy for these departments, ensuring their alignment with Prolam's shareholders vision and objectives.QualificationsProven experience in operations or production management, preferably in the timber industry.Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.In-depth knowledge of production processes, safety procedures, and quality control measures.Experience in project management and Lean Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.Bachelor's degree in operations management, engineering, or a related field.Experience working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines and targets.Familiarity with software such as Microsoft Excel, SAP, or similar ERP systems.Key Responsibilities1.Strategic Leadership and Management:•Lead the development and execution of operational strategies at Waiwhero and Little Sydney Sites, product development and innovations, Sales, and Marketing.•Ensure these strategies are integrated with Prolam's overall business plan and objectives.•Support the overall business strategy by leading the assets in the implementation and directive from the Managing Director.2.Strategic Planning and Execution:•Contribute to the development and implementation of production strategies aligned with company growth goals.•Monitor and analyze key KPI for production, safety and cost metrics to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.•Create and implement a yearly operating plan that leads the assets mangers to execute the yearly budget for, safety, production and cost management of each asset.•Implement initiatives to optimize production, safety and cost reduction output while maintaining quality and compliance standards for Prolam Brand.3.Leadership and Behaviours:•Focus on driving the basics and maintaining high-performance behaviours across all sites and with all employees.•Lead safety investigations and safety interaction with the site managers to support ongoing safety improvement,Demonstrate strong, inspirational, and caring leadership, lead from the front, be present and active with all employees.•Make decisive decisions in the best interest of Prolam that are data driven for continuous improvement.•Establish a strong connection with Production staff and adapt to the business environment of continues improvement in safety, quality and compliance.•Hold 6 monthly performance reviews with reports that are aligned to company budget, key KPI and yearly operational plans.•Hold the Production team accountable for adhering to Prolam's values, vision and mission.3.Operational Leadership and Coordination:•Oversee and optimise operations at Waiwhero and Little Sydney production sites.•Coordinate production and safety activities to meet quality standards and delivery timelines.•Management of the key KPI that are aligned to the company strategic outlooks and assets performance.•Collaborate and lead the team through the Waiwhero Site Manager, Little Sydney Site Manager, Production Planner, Project Manager, Finance Manager, IT and Systems Manager, and Sales and Marketing Manager to streamline processes and maximize efficiency, including procurement, supply chain, production and safety continuous improvement and employee engagement.The General Manager has 7 direct reports:Waiwhero Performance ManagerLittle Sydney Performance managerProduction Performance PlannerProject ManagerFinance Performance ManagerSystems & Technical Performance ManagerSales & Marketing Performance ManagerThe General Manager reports to the Managing Director#J-18808-Ljbffr
