Ko ta matou mahi - Our Role Reporting to the General Manager, People Governance and Capability, you will play a key leadership role in providing strategic legal advice and services across all aspects of delivery by Kainga Ora.As the General Counsel, you will provide comprehensive legal guidance to the Chief Executive and the Leadership Team on all legal matters, ensuring swift and effective action on behalf of Kainga Ora. You will oversee the delivery of all legal services, provided primarily by the skilled in-house team you are responsible for leading and mentoring, while maintaining a high level of accountability and excellence.Nga pumanawatanga ou - What you will bring A current NZLS Practising Certificate with extensive relevant experience in an in-house environmentDemonstrated ability to lead strategically using deliberate long-term thinking, whilst balancing current business needs and preparing for, and responding to, future challenges and opportunities Demonstrated experience leading highly skilled, high performing and engaged management and professional legal teams in a multi-faceted and demanding environment In-depth knowledge of the legislative system in Aotearoa New Zealand, and proficiency in all areas of law affecting Kainga OraA good working understanding of Te Ao Maori and Te Tiriti o WaitangiExcellent communication and influencing skills, enabling effective engagement with a range of internal and external stakeholders.The behavioural characteristics and skills required to work in a matrixed environment Interest in public sector structure, governance, processes and systems Demonstrated ability to navigate a regulated environment, working constructively across functions and with a track record of building and maintaining the trust of all stakeholders Dedication to contributing to the strategic vision of Kainga Ora For further information, please refer to the attached position description.Nou te rourou - What's in it for you?
