We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced lawyer to create and lead an integrated legal function at Marlborough District Council. As General Counsel you will provide expert strategic legal advice to the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team on all aspects of local authority functions and general legal matters.
You will develop and manage Council’s legal function and drive high performance from external advisors to ensure appropriate risk management. You will anticipate potential legal issues, estimate risks strategically, and identify proactive solutions for Council.
You will likely have knowledge of relevant local government legislation and functions and ideally have held a team leadership role. You will have well-developed business, political, and financial acumen. You will have the ability to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders (both internal and external), and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
