Details of the offer

You will be working with other team members to make sure that donated food is recorded, quality checked, safely sorted and stored, and ready to give to those who need it most. Your work ensures we provide a quality service to our community. The big picture is that food waste is reduced and people are well fed.
Tasks include:
Putting together food parcels and distributing
Responding to food deliveries in a timely manner
Providing accurate reporting and record keeping (Stock control)
Safely storing food in freezers / shelves
Doing quality assurance checks – food packaging, replenishing stock and using best judgment
Cleaning and sanitising food sorting surfaces and floors after each food sorting session.
Requirements: Have a good standard of conversational English, must be reliable and punctual
Able to work in a team environment of 2-3 (Must be a team player)
Physically fit and able to carry loads of 10-20kg
Must work safely and efficiently when handling, sorting and packing donated food items.
Basic understanding and adherence to New Zealand food safety requirements
A full orientation to this role will be provided and will cover any health and safety requirements.
All volunteers will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid 19.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - Morning (10 am - 1 pm)
You must be able to commit to one shift per week with the option of doing more if you have availability.
