The Role The newly created role of Financial Accountant will report to the Group Chief Financial Officer. You will take ownership for key aspects of the finance function and provide effective leadership to our Accounts Payable team member. Your responsibilities will include: Preparation of monthly management accounts, alongside the provision of analysis and insights to key stakeholders. Support the implementation of Xero into the business and take a key role as a Super User post successful implementation. Staff management, leadership and development of the accounts payable function. Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating and resolving any variances. Preparation of Group year-end financial statements and supplementary business unit reporting, playing an integral role with year-end audits. Preparing and filing GST, FBT and WHT returns with the IRD. Support the effective management of the group cashflows. Build and maintain effective internal controls, systems and processes. Effective business partnering with key stakeholders. Ensuring a resilient credit management process that enables the timely collection of cash from our customers. Support budget and business planning process for the Group. Driving continuous improvement across the finance function. Project work to support the growth of the business. Your profile: We are looking for someone who is keen to develop and grow in a hugely successful & iconic New Zealand owned business. You will likely have completed your CA or equivalent studies or be part way through your study. Ideally you will also bring some retail and or commercial experience (1-2 years minimum) in a fast-paced environment. Other things we are looking for : Retail or inventory-based finance experience. Background as a strong user or implementer of Xero (or similar accounting software). A demonstrated ability to self-manage and meet key deadlines. A fast learner and capable of using your initiative. A strong and curious commercial mind, with the ability to ask the right questions. Someone who gets on well with others and has a genuine desire to build relationships across the business.
