Job Overview:
As a finance administrator/bookkeeper, you will be responsible for the timely posting/filing/payment of all bills, and processing and distributing of invoices/receipts to ensure the continuity of operations.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is one with a solid bookkeeping / finance background. They thrive in a casual environment, take initiative and enjoy wearing many hats in a busy office atmosphere. This position requires an individual who enjoys working with the public, presents a professional demeanor, positive attitude with high attention to detail and organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Financial statements and reporting (monthly);
· Bookkeeping Cycle (month end adjustments for payroll/shareholder, internal transfers);
· Review of trial balance and adjustments (monthly);
· Accounts payable;
· CC entries and reconciliation;
· Payroll and remittance;
· Re-billables;
· Accounts receivable and follow-up;
· Cash flow forecasting and daily cash flow balance updates;
· Insurance liaison;
· Bonding liaison and reporting;
· External accountant point of contact;
· GTS, PST, WCB quarterly reporting;
· Annual budgeting and tracking;
· HR support;
· Water utility administration;
· Oversee accounting clerk;
· Bank reconciliations;
· Year-end preparation for external accountants.
Other tasks as required including but not limited to:
Report writing, cost-benefit analysis, feasibility studies, project coordination support, QB inventory, and administration tasks. Responding to customer inquiries (phone/e-mail, walk-in); and shipping/receiving administration.
Education and Experience:
· 3+ years of Bookkeeping / Accounting/ Business Administration experience in Canada
· Post-secondary diploma or degree – Preferably Business Administration.
Skills:
· Sound understanding of accounting principles and practices, with the ability to interpret financial information to inform decision-making.
· Reliable and dedicated
· Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel). Experience with QuickBooks online is an asset.
· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
· Enjoys customer service and has a professional phone demeanor.
· Possess the ability to view and solve problems critically while finding practical solutions.
· Sound understanding of accounting principles and practices.
· Excellent written and spoken English skills with a keen eye for grammar and formatting.
· Ability to develop, nurture and maintain strong relationships with clients, in person, over the phone and email.
· Highly organized, possess effective time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure, meet demanding deadlines and manage changing priorities.
· Ability to work independently, develop and implement processes that help us all become more efficient.
· A strong willingness to learn and grow.
Hours of Work: Regular business hours, up to 40 per week (minimum 30 hr/wk). Monday to Friday.
Term of employment contract: Three (3) month probationary period with the intent of continued full-time employment.
Wage: $25.00- $30/hour – based on qualifications/experience.
Benefits: The Employee will receive company cost sharing towards the current Chambers Employee Extended Health Benefits Plan. 2 weeks paid holidays.
