Psychology, Counselling & Social Work (Healthcare & Medical) About the Organisation This reputable New Zealand charity exists to provide much needed practical, emotional and some financial support to children and families on their cancer journey. Their focus is on the whanau, not the cancer.  About the role   Working across the Hawkes Bay and Tairawhiti regions you will work closely with each family, identifying where they are coping well and where they need extra support. All support, whether it be emotional, financial or other practical assistance is based on helping families utilise their strengths and build resilience to continue with their lives. You will facilitate and advocate for access to other agencies and methods of support in the community and to work with health professionals and other local support and community groups to ensure the best outcomes for children with cancer and their families. Please note this role is part time, 24 hours per week and will involve regular travel (monthly) as far as Gisborne (all travel expenses paid for). There is flexibility to work from the Hastings office as well as from home.  Experience, Skills and Attributes required You can work in partnership with families and build and maintain meaningful relationships which are based on trust, respect and empathy. You will operate with a flexible and agile approach recognising that it is not your typical 9-5 job. Along with this, we are also looking for someone who has: Exceptional listening and communication skills Sound knowledge of family development and family dynamics The ability to effectively work with a diverse range of stakeholders Clear personal / professional boundaries Initiative, creativity and flexibility in dealing with complex issues Previous experience in either nursing, community health, social work or a support role in a relevant field A full, clean drivers licence What's in it for you?
