An opportunity has arisen to join our leadership team in Milford Sound as the F&B and Stores Manager. You will be overseeing the procurement and logistics of supplying the cafe and cruise operations, and our staff accommodation kitchen, with all requirements of Food & Beverage and consumables. Southern Discoveries is a premium tourism company dedicated to sharing some of New Zealand's most iconic scenery and extraordinary experiences with the world. The company offers a range of Milford Sound cruises, kayaking and an underwater observatory in Milford Sound, with coach and scenic flight transfers from Queenstown and Te Anau. The company operates several retail outlets in Queenstown, Te Anau and Milford Sound, and operates the only café at the World Heritage site. This position requires a person who has a good understanding of the processes required to ensure that the operation receives supplies in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The ideal candidate will have worked in hospitality and will have experience of ordering supplies, working closely with suppliers and ensuring that the operation and logistics of deliver run smoothly, meet budget, and ensure that are guests and staff enjoy quality offerings. You will bring a high level of internal and external customer service and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people, including suppliers. It is a requirement that this position is able to work unsupervised and has a level of fitness, as it may involve the movement of goods between stores and various point of the Milford Operation as required. You will have assistance from the stores person and cover from our team of Chefs and Cafe Manager. You will bring · Strong verbal and written English skills · High level of skill with communicating to suppliers and internal customers, with sounds negotiation and relationship-building skills · Experience in stock take, stock movements and rotation. · Competence in calculating correct amounts of supplies for the operation · Financial literacy with a good working knowledge of spreadsheets · Willingness to step into the breach when required and support the stores team · Knowledge of NZ Food Safety Regulations · Self-motivated and team focused · A level of resilience with operating in a remote location, with at times challenging weather · Full clean driver's licence We work on a roster of 10 days on with 4 days off roster, allowing you to explore the wonders of Fiordland, Southland and Otago. You will be provided with a staff management flat free of charge. The role is all about ensuring our Milford Sound guests have an outstanding culinary experience.
