Welcome to Heretaunga, whose beauty is observed by the sharp eye of the harrier hawk; a landscape rich in history and with an esteemed legacy of caring and providing for its inhabitants.Te Whare Toi o Heretaunga Hastings Art Gallery works with artists and our communities to explore the role of arts and culture in the world we live in and grows creativity within Te Matau-a-Maui Hawkes Bay. The Gallery presents a lively programme of local, national, and international contemporary art – through exhibitions, events and education programmes.The Gallery is currently seeking an Exhibitions Coordinator. This is a key role within the Gallery team leading the project management, administration, and logistics of exhibitions, working closely with artists, external parties, and staff across the gallery.Reporting to the Gallery's Manager and Curator, the Exhibitions Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing freight, travel arrangements, payments, external contractor relationships, and timelines for other exhibition logistics.This position requires an experienced museum and/or gallery professional who has excellent communication and administrative skills, sharp attention to detail, and a proven ability to effectively manage complex projects and multiple deadlines.The successful candidate will have:A track record of experience managing and delivering projects in a gallery and/or museum contextInterest in and knowledge of the art/museum landscape in AotearoaCommitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and familiar with its application in a public art gallery/museum contextWell-developed written and oral communication skillsExcellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks and initiatives from conception to completion.Strong attention to detailExperience in financial administrationA qualification in Visual Arts/Arts and/or Business Administration, and least two years' experience working in the art gallery or museum sector.Situated in the heart of Ngati Kahungunu, the Hastings district and Hawke's Bay offer an enjoyable environment in which to live, work and play.
