PurposeThe scope of the Executive Officer role is wide, covering the administration, management and development of a viable national organisation, the establishment of Abbeyfield houses within New Zealand, and the implementation of the strategic and business plans within budgetary constraints.The EO takes a leading role in implementing the strategic target to grow by one new Abbeyfield house a year, recently set by the national boards. There is scope to recruit additional part-time staffing resource to help achieve that goal, in an operations or development role.Key tasks and responsibilitiesDevelopment : work with Abbeyfield Properties board and local Societies to lead the development and capital funding of new houses nationallyFinancial and asset management and oversight: build and monitor national budgets, review and advise on local budgets, manage investments, liabilities and loans, and insurance policies for all entitiesAdvocacy : develop and maintain key strategic partnerships and a positive perception and awareness of AbbeyfieldGovernance support, strategy: support and advise national boards including meeting administration; lead strategy development and business plan implementation.Local Abbeyfield Society support and guidance : ensure local volunteers have comprehensive guidance through various channelsCompliance & risk managemen t: ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, maintain risk register and risk oversightOffice and people management : build and lead a qualified team with a strong culture that values and respects local volunteersQualificationsTertiary qualification in relevant field, including legal, financial, business, housing or planning qualification.ExperienceSubstantial management experience, a background in community or for purpose (not-for-profit) organisations especially community housing; experience in advocacy, public speaking, and / or project management, and writing funding applications.About usAbbeyfield is a leader in the provision of affordable rental housing for older people.
