About the opportunity Whareroa is one of our largest sites. Along with a 7-hectare distribution centre and 1000 employees, our site boasts a total of 11 plants which includes four milk powder plants, two cheese plants, a cream plant, an anhydrous milk fat plant plus a whey protein and casein plant. We have the capability to process an impressive 14 million litres of milk per day in peak season.
As an Engineering Project Manager, you will cover a range of engineering projects, leading initiatives that will significantly improve the sustainability, safety, quality, and reliability of assets within our operations. Your projects will be highly visible to senior leaders and make a real difference to the future performance and success of Fonterra.
Reporting to the Regional Projects Manager, this role will be predominantly based at Whareroa but will service our neighbouring sites (Longburn & Pahiatua) as well in an established team of Engineering Project Managers. You will be responsible for full project management of projects up to $15M, from project conception, definition and scoping, concept design through delivery to post-completion support. You will own and drive delivery of projects, building business cases from the ground up, ensuring process, budget and timelines are clear, then lead project teams through funding, design, and implementation to ensure business benefits are delivered. With a range of resources allocated to different projects, you will ensure permits for contractors are up to date, the team are aligned to the correct projects, and you are communicating updates across our key stakeholders.
About you We are looking for a go-getter with a strong team approach. To be successful in this role you will bring a project management background, within a fast-paced and high-quality engineering environment. You'll have a vast array of knowledge, be familiar with project management tools and techniques, as well as having the ability to deliver projects end to end.
You'll have a proven ability to cope with an ever changing and busy workload effectively, as well as having excellent prioritisation and decision-making skills. You'll be reliable, approachable, and be able to identify, and provide solutions to the wider business to keep jobs moving forward.
You will possess:
Dairy Process, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Degree or equivalent experienceOr have project management experience delivering industrial projects with a spend of +$1M/projectAbility to prioritize your work to resource, lead and manage several projects at any given timeStrong organisational skills and attention to detail to fully scope and cost projectsThe ability to manage change and see tasks through to completionStrong stakeholder management and interpersonal skillsExcellent collaboration, influencing and problem-solving skills.
