Engineer/Senior Operational Engineer

We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

Being the lead engineer in Porirua is more than being technically capable. Providing customer service is something you pride yourself on, from giving advice and information on water supply and drainage issues, through to following up with property owners where remedial actions are required. You will be able to apply your technical skills and practical experience to think strategically over longer term whole-of-network goals. You will be able to identify priorities, risks and dependencies.
To be successful in this role you will likely be tertiary qualified with practical engineering experience in three waters. Your ability to take initiative and be proactive in leading a small team along with contractors and clients in a variety of unique situations is essential. If there's a problem to be resolved, you'll get the answer. If the unexpected happens and water services to customer are compromised, you will be happy to roll up your sleeves and pitch in, whether it is within normal hours or not.

Your experience might be in the private sector or local government, but wherever you've come from you will thrive in the role if you understand water supply, wastewater or storm water operations, can manage budgets, projects, contracts, and staff and have good written and verbal communication skills.
