We have awesome benefits to support you including 5 weeks annual leave and hybrid working.About the role As an Emergency Management Officer, you will lead and facilitate the delivery of Civil Defence Emergency Management outcomes. Your role involves supporting the Council in responding to and recovering from emergencies while promoting best practice emergency management strategies across the Council and the community.
Your focus in this role will include:
Maintain collaborative relationships with the Manawatu -Whanganui Civil Defence and Emergency Management Group and Sector Partners.Foster Civil Defence Emergency Management awareness and culture across the Council.Implement the Civil Defence Emergency Management program.Facilitate community engagement and increase emergency preparedness through various initiatives.Coordinate training exercises and ensure staff readiness for emergency response.About you If you're passionate about emergency management and committed to ensuring the safety and resilience of our community, we invite you to join our team
This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will understand that flexibility is a must as you will be required to work outside normal working hours in the event of a Civil Defence emergency. 
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:
Tertiary qualification in emergency management or related field preferred.Crisis management or emergency management experience is essential.Experience or knowledge of how an Emergency Operations Centre works.Strong understanding of relevant legislation and National strategies.Competent user of Microsoft Office packages and other ICT systems.About us Palmerston North (or as we like to call it, Palmy) is a growing, innovative and exciting city.
