Based in Christchurch with depots in Central Otago and Tawa, Wellington, Connetics provides engineering solutions and services to a wide range of clients and customer base.
We are seeking a Design Engineer – Lighting to be part of our team that proactively manages projects with creative solutions and sees the designs through to installation completion.Our Lighting team provides innovative and compliant design solutions for lighting systems including Road Lighting, Public Spaces, Amenity Lighting, Sports Field and Park Lighting. You’ll tackle the whole package – client liaison, design, project management, construction monitoring and auditing.
You will be willing to enhance and develop your design skills along with the ability to evaluate and report on new opportunities, products and technology. You will seek a challenge, be well organised and have good time management skills.Required skills and experience
Graduate certificate in Science and Technology or equivalent electrical qualification;
Relevant design experience in areas such as road lighting, public spaces, amenity lighting, sports field and park lighting
A proven understanding of AS/NZS 1158 road lighting standards
Technical understanding of distribution networks, including design in lighting 11kV/400V substations, underground reticulations, substation and protection systems
Relevant industry experience eg power, lighting and other utilities is preferred
Competent in the use of AutoCAD and lighting design software (AGI & Perfect Lite);
An interest in new technology, especially focused on LED and automatic smart city automation;
Conversant with industry drawing practices
An ability to work closely and collaboratively with internal Design Engineers and external clients
Prepare documents as required by the Design Engineer
Provide assistance in the use of CAD to other Design + Engineering staff
Intermediate spread sheeting and word processing skills
This role is the ultimate development opportunity if you’ve got a recognised electrical engineering qualification and an ambition to move into design. You’ll work from concept design through to completion, taking in client liaison, design and project management, so you’ll be a practical person who can get on site and understand the balance between design and constructability. You’ll also need to be flexible as you’ll work across both our Reticulation and Connections, and our Substations Protection teams.
