Educational Support Worker / Teacher Aide

**Contract is until 8 May 2020, however the successful candidate may have the opportunity to have the contract made permanent**
We are looking for an energetic and patient aspiring ECE or primary school teacher to support a 2yr old boy in his preschool. About the child:
He has recently been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and needs a bit of extra support at preschool. He is highly capable of many tasks, but needs more help than average with certain tasks- particularly with eating and social interactions. He is currently receiving ABA early intervention therapy, and you will be required to work collaboratively with his therapist. Tasks included (but not necessarily limited to):
- Support of peer-peer interactions
?????? - Feeding snacks and lunch
- Assist with toileting (currently being toilet trained)
You will need to master the balance of ensuring he is participating in necessary tasks, while also allowing him opportunities to perform said tasks- you will be one of his teachers, after all. Patience is an absolute MUST. You don’t necessarily have to be highly experienced, but you will need to have had some experience with looking after children with special needs, preferably ASD. A positive attitude and desire to help children learn is most important.
At this stage, we’re looking for someone for 5-6hours per week (reviewed from 2020 onwards). There is is some flexibility in the hours and when they can be completed. This will be discussed.Please note that any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory MOJ check.
