Education Centre Manager - Guthrie Smith Tutira (Arboretum & Education Centre)

This is a great role for a leader passionate about outdoor education. Guthrie Smith Tutira is a Hawke's Bay treasure, offering a multi-faceted outdoor learning environment for all ages. They provide a variety of environmental educational programmes and adventure-based learning activities including high ropes, canoeing, raft building, orienteering and many more. As Education Centre Manager, your role will be at the heart of the centre's offering. Residing on-site and looking over the beautiful Lake Tutira, you will sit across the day to day operations of the Education Centre and its related outdoor activities. You will be hands-on, leading and demonstrating the outdoor education programmes, and sharing knowledge of the history of the land which makes this place so special. Assuring confidence and compliance around high ropes and harnesses will be right in your comfort zone. You will enjoy fostering a fun and engaging learning space to create a memorable outdoor experience for all participants. You will be well supported by an engaged and passionate General Manager who has been on board for over 20 years. You will quickly become the first point of contact for any schools or corporate groups wanting to take part, and your creativity and ideas will be encouraged to identify new opportunities to further develop the education centre and programmes on offer. Guthrie Smith Tutira are proud to be an OutdoorsMark safety audit certified operator, with Health and Safety being at the forefront of what they do. And you will help to ensure the Education Centre is operating in align with these standards. This is a great opportunity to have a hugely positive impact across our local communities. To be successful here you will need to have relevant qualifications in outdoor education or teaching. You may be a recent graduate, ready to embark on your career in outdoor education, or have a few years of instructing under your belt and looking for that step up into a managerial role. Either way, you must have a genuine passion for working with people, and in particular children. You will bring with you your excellent communication, organisational and time management skills to ensure each programme runs smoothly.
